Hunter,

This afternoon, I was sworn in for a second term to serve as your Attorney General. Over the past four years, our Office has made considerable progress fighting fraud against consumers and the State, protecting our families from crime and gang violence, prosecuting those who pollute the Bay, and safeguarding your rights. We recovered more than 80 million dollars for Marylanders fighting the kind of fraud that devastated the mortgage industry and is killing our healthcare system; we established the State's first-ever statewide gang unit; and in our fight for the Bay, we made Maryland history with the largest water penalty against one of its polluters.


I am proud of each and every one of our accomplishments over the last four years, but there is still more to do. Over the next term, as we continue to seek better solutions for all Marylanders, our priorities will remain the same - fighting fraud, keeping our families safe, protecting the Bay from polluters, and defending your rights. Some of the key initiatives on these fronts will include a prescription drug take back program designed to make it easy for people to properly dispose of unused medications so they don't end up in the hands of our kids or in our waterways, campaign finance reform, and judicial election reform to ensure a representative, impartial, qualified bench.
