You’ll feel warm in January as talented alumni who have become professional performing artists return to entertain us for the benefit of student financial aid. You and your children will enjoy a relaxing evening enjoying the show and socializing, as your children get the subtle but powerful message that this is what can happen if you practice! It’s no wonder this show sells out!
The Ninth Annual Variety Show is Saturday, January 29, 2010, at 8 p.m. in the Kogod Arts Center. It will be followed by a reception with the performers. SFS student tickets are just $10. Adults are $35 (2 for $60); teachers and young alums ('00-'10) are $25. Purchase an extra ticket and donate it for a teacher! Be a sponsor! All proceeds go to Dollars for Scholars in support of financial aid. To order tickets click here.

Do YOU know what January 30, 2011 is? It’s that ARTRAGEOUS day when everyone you know at SFS will join together in our annual community-wide celebration of the ARTS from 1-4 pm at the Middle School campus. Mellow out with the US Jazz Band, snap to the beat of those CoSo a cappella guys, enjoy stunning visual art of lower, middle, and upper school students, be inspired by solo, duet, and group vocal and instrumental performers of all ages, get ready to be wowed by spirited dancers, and rock the afternoon away with our newest cool band of 3rd graders. Bring out the artist in YOU – enter a Zen Zone to create of and about BLUE, sculpt and paint in workshops led by professional artists and teachers, make a masterpiece with blue tape, build art to eat, and much more! And how about another clue for that Grande Finale – while baseball fans have to wait until early April for that opening PITCH, SFS’s wonderful ArtRageous ‘11 team of faculty and administrators will throw you a PITCH on January 30 you’ll want to catch. . . and throw back!

Valentine's Dance
The Valentine's Dance will take place on Saturday, February 5 from 8:30pm-11:00pm in the Dining Room. We need parents to work alongside students to decorate for the dance on Friday, February 4 at 2:30pm. Also, five parent volunteers are needed to help pour water and monitor the two classrooms which serve as coat rooms. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Jamie Baldinger.10th Grade Peer Group
The second parent peer group meeting for 10th grade is Tuesday January 25th at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper School Crane Room.
Please join us for these wonderful opportunities to join with other parents in your grade and talk about non-academic issues of relevance to our children's well being. Peer groups are facilitated by parents in the grade and topics are determined by the parents in attendance that night. The peer group also provides a great chance to build relationships with the other parents in the grade.
We hope you will join us. If you have any questions, please contact Raina Fishbane or Jeanine Hull, the Upper School Community Health Initiative co-clerks.A Call for Performers
Parents, do you ever hear your child and his/her friends belting out a popular song behind closed doors? Or is there perhaps a rock band that blasts forth in your basement? Do you ever hear singing coming from the shower? fFloor boards creaking from the dance maneuvers upstairs? Please, get the word to those kids having fun in an artistic way that ArtRageous would like to hear from them. We still have room at the Middle School and plenty of equipment at the ready to support any kind of act. So, come find your audience and email Maude Fish. She'll get back to you.ArtRageous Needs Volunteers!
Friends, Parents, Patrons, lend us your love of all things Art! ArtRageous (Sunday, Jan 30) promises to bring out the artist or art lover in you if you'll help us bring out the RAGE in ART! This SCHOOL-WIDE day of COMMUNITY and ART is fabulously fun, and it CANNOT happen without YOU! We are excited by a new venue this year - the beautiful Middle School - and it's going to be exhilarating to celebrate the arts in ways old and NEW in the cool Black Box Theatre, the professionally designed Art Studios, the inspiring Instrumental and Choral Classrooms - BUT WE NEED YOU. Set up (morning), Clean up (4-5:30), Assisting Art Stops and other events (1-4) - we've got a place only YOUR SHOES will dance in! To reserve your place in making this happen, please contact Sarah Blake, and THANK YOU!
