By Elena Schneider | 04/11/2016 10:00 AM EDT With Kevin Robillard, Scott Bland, Elena Schneider and Daniel Lippman The following newsletter is an abridged version of Campaign Pro's Morning Score. For an earlier morning read on exponentially more races - and for a more comprehensive aggregation of the day's most important campaign news - sign up for Campaign Pro today. (http://www.politicopro.com/proinfo) PRIMARY PROBLEMS - "Scandals threaten GOP in top target House race," by Campaign Pro's Theodoric Meyer: "One candidate is under investigation by the state attorney general. Another is feuding with a sitting congresswoman over whether he allowed children to be abused at the school he used to run. A third candidate had to apologize for saying that '99 percent' of mass shootings were committed by Democrats. Welcome to the Republican primary in Arizona's most competitive House race, in a rural, conservative-leaning seat that Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick is vacating to run Senate." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b545d763e78da884b7d5c883c9b6aedc0e0383681832d3533f9 NEW THIS MORNING - Feingold, pro-Johnson super PAC air first TV ads: Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold's campaign and a super PAC supporting GOP Sen. Ron Johnson will start airing their first TV ads of the campaign starting tomorrow. Feingold's ad is a 60-second positive spot, highlighting Feingold's trip to visit all 72 counties in the state, including Wisconsinites inviting Feingold into their home and sharing anxieties about the economy. Watch the ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b542005af8f1d07e35a8f7568a4a81f9bcf8e53a987be5ae71c - The super PAC, Let America Work, hits Feingold on foreign policy: "Chaos. Obama's foreign policy is weakness. But not to Russ Feingold," the narrator says, as the ad opens with shots of explosions and ISIS fighters in the Middle East. Watch the ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b543b9d57cdc9e6711172759f1f47d0cec96c6a5e1d189d4483 Days until the New York primary: 8. Days until the 2016 election: 211. THE MONEY CHASE - Congressional candidates hobnob with big GOP donors in Vegas: The Republican Jewish Coalition's spring "conference was jam-packed with down-ballot contenders eager to make inroads with deep-pocketed contributors," including those disillusioned with the presidential contest, POLITICO's Alex Isenstadt and Katie Glueck report from Las Vegas. "Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo, one of the most imperiled House Republicans, attended a Shabbat dinner along with Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, who is facing a challenging reelection contest. Jon Keyser, an attorney running for Senate in Colorado, was the subject of much interest among those at the Venetian." - The gathering also drew disaffected former Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio backers. "After helping Rubio, former Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman, an RJC board member, said he'd turned his attention to leading American Action Network, an outside group that spends in congressional races. With Trump as the possible nominee, Coleman said there was growing worries that he could imperil the party's hold on the House and Senate. 'We've been getting a lot more folks coming to us,' he said. 'One of the realities of a Trump candidacy is it puts the House in play, as it does a number of Senate seats.'" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b54d5019a0960b7a110eae068551658f0575225cb92a3971e27 FIRST QUARTER FUNDRAISING ROUNDUP - WI-08: Republican Mike Gallagher raised $520,000, per WisPolitics - NY-19: Democrat Zephyr Teachout raised over $530,000, per NY State of Politics - Pennsylvania: The super PAC backing GOP Sen. Pat Toomey raised another $110,000, via its FEC report. COLORADO SENATE FIELD SET - Glenn makes GOP primary ballot, joining four other Republicans - but not conservative Tim Neville: "In a major upset that upended the U.S. Senate race, El Paso County Commissioner Darryl Glenn emerged from the state Republican Party convention Saturday as the only candidate to win a slot on the party's primary ballot," The Denver Post's John Frank and Joey Bunch report. "State Sen. Tim Neville, R-Littleton, entered the convention as the favorite - backed by a powerful gun rights organization - but he failed to win the 30 percent needed to advance. ... For the June 28 primary, Glenn will join four other candidates - Colorado Springs businessman Robert Blaha, former Aurora city councilman Ryan Frazier, businessman Jack Graham and former state Rep. Jon Keyser - who submitted ballot signatures to qualify for the ballot." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b5434ed770a80ce0e43524709276e85a921fa283a79c38c2e2b - "The defeat is a huge blow to Neville personally and to the image of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners as a power broker in the state," The Colorado Statesman's Jennifer Kerns writes. "This year, you've got so many first-time caucus goers, that really made a difference," Neville's son, state Rep. Patrick Neville, told The Statesman. "But it was a clear victory. Good job to Darryl Glenn." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b54972e2dc73d86ad6e8f0efe250a2d0726c658ede3f2a01358 ANTI-INCUMBENT PRIMARY TO WATCH - Lamborn to face another primary challenge in Colorado: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b549ce6399102f191420d7f5319958f2816d4e14c645181e29b STILL NEUTRAL - Mikulski doesn't take sides in Maryland, despite mailer: Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen's campaign used Sen. Barbara Mikulski's image on a mailer last week touting his support from female elected officials in the state. But Mikulski hasn't endorsed Van Hollen, and her campaign said she was staying neutral in the contest in a statement to Campaign Pro. "Marylanders are very fortunate to have strong Democratic candidates to choose from in the upcoming primary for the Senate seat I am vacating," Mikulski said in the statement. "I know all the competitors and have sought to stay studiously neutral. The mailer was first flagged by the blog Maryland Scramble. ON THE RECORD - "POLITICO Pro Q&A: Arkansas Senate candidate Conner Eldridge," by Campaign Pro's Kevin Robillard: What are the big issues facing the country and how would you approach them differently than Sen. Boozman? The big issue in this race is that Sen. Boozman has been here for 14 years and he hasn't done anything and he's really lost touch with Arkansas. What we hear from him on virtually every issue is the same tired talking points we hear from everybody up here on both sides of the aisle. I'm frustrated with both political parties. I got in this race to be an independent, strong, new voice for our state. Sen. Boozman has been up here too long and has become part of the problem with Washington. - You're frustrated with both parties, but it seems in Arkansas, people are more frustrated with the Democrats. I don't dispute your premise that Democrats have lost in Arkansas, but the strain that I feel, having traveled to all 75 counties, is that people are fed up with both parties. There are a lot of people in Arkansas, and polling backs this up, who vote the person not the party. That's also evident in the fact that Mike Beebe went out of office with a 70 percent approval rating. I think there's a lot of people upset with national Democrats, certainly, but national Republicans, too. It's preparation for the campaign's endgame. If Cruz is to stop Trump short of 1,237 delegates, the final decisive stand will almost certainly come in California. And that realization has spurred a behind-the-scenes arms race, with Cruz, Trump, John Kasich and their allies making new hires, planning new field offices, and forming new big money groups in what is set to be the sprawling state's most consequential Republican primary in a half-century." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b5447d97cd1cabf60f6b0d2da6b28947781c6c4fd615134bd66 - "Past cases suggest Hillary won't be indicted," by POLITICO's Josh Gerstein: "It's the most explosive question of the 2016 presidential campaign: Could Hillary Clinton get indicted for her handling of sensitive materials through her home email server? A POLITICO review of dozens of recent federal investigations for mishandling of classified records suggests that it's highly unlikely - but not impossible. The examination, which included cases spanning the past two decades, found some with parallels to Clinton's use of a private server for her emails, but - in nearly all instances that were prosecuted - aggravating circumstances that don't appear to be present in Clinton's case." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b54798a54ceada99a449458a5d3f9afa882eebe1722729ec9d4 - "A portrait of Trump the donor: Free rounds of golf, but no personal cash," by David A. Fahrenthold and Rosalind S. Helderman: "Since the first day of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has said that he gave more than $102 million to charity in the past five years. To back up that claim, Trump's campaign compiled a list of his contributions - 4,844 of them, filling 93 pages. But, in that massive list, one thing was missing. Not a single one of those donations was actually a personal gift of Trump's own money. Instead, according to a Washington Post analysis, many of the gifts that Trump cited to prove his generosity were free rounds of golf, given away by his courses for charity auctions and raffles. The largest items on the list were not cash gifts but land-conservation agreements to forgo development rights on property Trump owns." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b543a66486db2b29f788fbee3479749b1a77f80158bcd5d4752 - "Trump's Saturday delegate disaster," by POLITICO's Eli Stokols and Kyle Cheney: "Donald Trump's struggle to win loyal delegates to the Republican National Convention grew even more desperate on Saturday, with crushing losses in Colorado and South Carolina that put victory at a contested convention further from his grasp. Trump, who handed the reins of much of his campaign this week to strategist Paul Manafort in an effort to shore up his operation before the nomination slips away, so far has been swept out of delegate slots up for grabs at Colorado's state convention." He also suffered delegate defeats in South Carolina over the weekend. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b5438fb82fb62590aef59b3747afde95aa7292a6228d972842a CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I never did. But, Trey, didn't you search that on Google?" - Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr., responding to a Washington Post reporter who asked him whether he'd asked Donald Trump whether a story about Trump paying off a Good Samaritan's mortgage that Falwell told on Fox News was true. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b5429143c4a628cae11351432b6a23d53521121230c7df50d41 To view online: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b5416a5ee5420b65246928ba152af41e3af158eeccca22e60dd To change your alert settings, please go to http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=d4181cb6c4174b540e65ad1edcb25c23b6046f7dc32111fc351a5ad3b304ec53 or http://click.politicoemail.com/profile_center.aspx?qs=c1c81b2ef644fde1dd3c1f6178ef6a8ea3ee660992025bd4d4174d4508afd437ac19d681e00f1d03436bbe661a5d9c7c8f035a70ceb516ccThis email was sent to Hbiden@rosemontseneca.com by: POLITICO, LLC 1000 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA, 22209, USA To unsubscribe,http://www.politico.com/_unsubscribe?e=00000154-059f-d0e4-af74-cfbf4b910000&u=0000014e-f0fe-dd93-ad7f-f8fffbc40000&s=840fefe0ca58e5ad68c2159fa74c97666182b5385f6bdd180bc0d74f14034a4b5dc7e968807f61354b069735e2c01b32600679389a95a1eff10f3bad44523aae
