We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving weekend. Please note the following important upcoming events. All the best, Your 5th Grade Reps 1) Tuesday, November 29: All School Diversity Committee Meeting - "Cultural Competence: A Critical Skill for the 21st Century" in the Meeting House, 6:30-8:00 p.m. From the Tuesday Letter, "This session will equip us, as members of the Sidwell community, with a common language and framework to understand the importance of diversity and inclusion at our school. Dr. Jones will share specific tools, tips and techniques for teaching respect for differences and practicing cultural competence at home and beyond. Please join us as we advance our ongoing efforts to build and nurture an inclusive school community that welcomes a diversity of people, ideas, cultures and principles of equity and justice. Sitter service will be provided during the meeting. The cost is $13 for each child, which includes pizza. Children should be at least four years old and non-SFS siblings are welcome to join the fun." If you are interested in the service, please email Beth Polakoff ASAP at bpolakoff@exponent.com<mailto:bpolakoff@exponent.com> 2) Friday, December 2: no school for Middle Schoolers 3) Friday, December 2 - Saturday, December 3: Lower School Book Fair at Barnes and Noble, Bethesda (see attached flyer for details) 4) Tuesday, December 6: Dr. James Maas, "Sleep for Success" in the Upper School Arts Center, 7:00 p.m. Dr. Maas is a leading expert and dynamic speaker on the topic of sleep and peak performance. Please see Tuesday Letter for further details. 5) Monday, November 28 - Friday, December 9: Middle School gift collection to be donated to A Wider Circle. All gifts will be greatly appreciated. Please drop off new and unwrapped gifts in the Middle School Lobby. 6) Saturday, December 17: Winter Break begins
