Am told that some wfp staff were told Friday that SG sent a letter to Ex Bd pres saying that the process for selecting the ED for the next term had begun and was open for all who wanted to be considered (including Josette). Was also told that some of her staff are actively lobbying governments to try to build support for her to stay. This week is the board meeting (and 50th bday) so that must be why the timing of the SG letter. And this would also mean, I think, that at least the US has communicated to him that they are not going to recommend Josette, but that is conjecture on my part.
