Hello Meg, Michael, Kathleen, and Hunter, Anne and I just met about your email as I just arrived back from Omaha last night! We are thrilled with your ideas. Thank you so much for your creativity, energy and desire to support JVC Northwest! * The former JV Networking opportunities sound perfect! * The larger fundraising ideas are also wonderful. The only concern may be with II.B - we are wondering how the diocese and parish may feel about having 2nd collections for JVC Northwest if JVC has a community in DC. We trust your wisdom and experience here. Another great Jesuit from the Northwest to include might be Pat Conroy. Anne will be in touch further - and please let us know how we can assist you. We are processing all the information we received on the weekend. As Kathleen and Meg and I talked, I will be in DC for our annual AmeriCorps meeting the week of September 19. We tentatively set a date for Tuesday, September 20 at the Biden's. Kathleen was going to check out this date with Hunter. Many, many thanks! Jeanne PLEASE NOTE: The JVC Northwest office has moved! As of February 12, 2016, our new address is below in red. Please let us know if you have any tweaks/additional ideas. It was such a wonderful and inspiring weekend - we don't want to lose the momentum! Best, Meg I. Former JVC NW Network A. Organize a former JV social event with list of former JVs provided by staff. B. Tap one, younger former JV from that event to organize a day of service, that will also serve as a very small fundraiser to help establish a habit of giving (e.g., $25 to participate if you are within 5 years of JVC; $50 if further out). Service project to be followed by simple, community meal. This will be designed to be an annual event for former JVs in the area. C. Tap a second, younger former JV to organize a DC spirituality night. Frequency to be dictated by people's desire/willingness to participate, but default to suggest would be quarterly. Person who organizes the first can continue to take the helm, or each "host" can designate the person to host the next ones. II. Larger Fundraising A. Organize a larger cocktail fundraiser for friends/associates/neighbors who might be willing to support JVC NW, as well as parents and grandparents of current JVs, emphasizing the 60th Anniversary. Depending on size of invite list, may want to ask Georgetown University to provide us space for the event. We'll ask a recent alum to present for 10 minutes or so regarding the impact JVC NW made to her or his life, and how they could not have done it without financial support of donors. Perhaps include a very short video as part of that presentation if there is an appropriate one. One member of Alumni Council to also speak very briefly. Minimum specific ask to be made for those attending (part of invite/entry fee), and encouragement to give more. Should also encourage some Jesuits to attend - Father Greg Schenden (Georgetown Campus Ministry) a good one; each of us will consider others as well. B. Second Collection: Mike will inquire what it would entail to have the entire Diocese do a second collection for JVC NW; barring that, we'll inquire whether Holy Trinity would do so (a Jesuit parish in DC where both Meg, Kathleen and Hunter are members). The aim would be to make this second collection an annual event. C. Each of us to consider what foundations or persons we may be able to ask to give, or introduce JVC NW to, and you can make the ask. (To that end, as we discussed, I have used the binder from this weekend to draft a letter to my law firm partners which I will run by you before sending; I just want my husband (the writer in the family) to take a crack at it first!) _____ This message and any attachments are intended only for the addressee and may contain information that is privileged and confidential.
