</style></head><body><div>Dear Finnegan,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I am sure that you are looking forward to the well deserved winter break that begins next week.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Many members of your class are beginning and will continue to receive admissions notifications from colleges in which early applications were submitted. Cory Zimmerman, Emily Thigpen and I recognize that this is a very stressful time for students in the college application process.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> In my short time at Sidwell, I have been impressed with how the members of the class of 2017 look out and take care of each other. In true Quaker fashion, you attend to the Light within which influences the ways in which you act in your personal lives. I literally have the honor of witnessing this everyday and see this in action. I, along with Cory and Emily, appreciate your respectfulness and discretion with each other as you and your fellow classmates receive good news and sometimes not good news. In my twelve years of working as a Director of College Counseling, I judge and remember a class in how they treat one another before the list of "matriculated colleges." Before being a U.S. News & World Report statistic, a number or a data point - you are viable contributing member of a unique family called Sidwell - never let anyone or anything make you feel otherwise.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Students are welcome to come in to the college counseling office up until Thursday, December 15, 2016 to make slight changes to their college list. Please note that your college counselor will be periodically checking email over the winter break and modest changes can be made to a college list up to Wednesday, December 28, 2016 through email correspondence with your college counselor.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Take care,</div>
