Let me share a story I hear all too often:

On the other end of the phone I hear Dad tell me he is doing just
fine, and feeling good. But his voice cracks and I know he isn't
being honest with me. Mom shared later that he won't get out of
bed and finds it too difficult to carry on with the things he loves. I
fought back tears, holding the phone tightly to my chest. Depression
and despair are setting in and I don't know how to help.

Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago and it's been a
struggle to get him everything he needs. I want my Dad to be
comfortable and to direct all of his energy to fighting his cancer.
But I can't help my Dad cover his treatment costs, help him pay
for his utilities or find the local resources for counseling. I just
