NJ Transit has asked HNTB to delay work on the North Portal Bridge project because of some concern that the ARC project's cancelation will affect the Bridge project. It looks like they are back at work, but this is the second time they have been asked to delay the project and any delay over two weeks will cause HNTB to furlough workers. They want to get some clarity with NJ Transit and make sure that officials in NJ realize that the two projects are separate with two separate funding streams. Ultimately, we are told the funding for the bridge construction will come from FRA/Amtrak and HNTB wanted to get a little more clarity on that funding. That is, where is it coming from, has it been authorized and where in the queue is the North Portal Bridge project vis a vis some other projects. Eric D.
