** Trump and Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone for about an hour on Tuesday, as Reuters reports (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-trump-putin/trump-and-putin-speak-for-an-hour-about-syria-ukraine-north-korea-idUSKBN1DL27G?utm_source=CSIS+All&utm_campaign=1330db4325-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_11_21&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f326fc46b6-1330db4325-145367789) . The presidents covered topics including Syria, Ukraine, Iran, North Korea and Afghanistan, a White House official said.

The call came less than two weeks after Trump and Putin met on the sidelines of the APEC leaders meeting in Vietnam.

"We had a great call with President Putin," Trump told reporters at the White House, according to USA Today (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/11/21/president-trump-vladimir-putin-hold-phone-call-talk-north-korea-syria-other-security-issues/885181001/?utm_source=CSIS+All&utm_campaign=1330db4325-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_11_21&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f326fc46b6-1330db4325-145367789) . ** Mugabe Resigns

Robert Mugabe — who has ruled Zimbabwe since independence in 1980 and was the world’s oldest head of state — resigned as president on Tuesday shortly after lawmakers began debating a motion to impeach him, as the

Mugabe's successor, according to a spokesman for the ZANU-PF party, will be former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
