I took the day off to read “Promise Me, Dad”. Truth be told I shed some tears. One thing I didn’t expect is when the narrative turned to Beau it was Beau’s voice coming through. It startled me. And then I just enjoyed hearing his voice again. I reached out to Beau via text a few times after going out to Chester County to hear him speak in 2011. For awhile we kibitzed about his running(I ran at Penn), kids and my thoughts of his future Presidency. After while, I didn’t hear back. But every once in a blue moon I would ping him. I was worried with all the reports and then seeing him on television. I wish I had pinged him more or taken the time to write him a hand written note. As I read early on in the book, I worried about how alone he must have felt. But as your father explains he always had you. It resonated to me how you two were true brothers. And my worry of his feelings moved to yours. I think I glimpsed the profundity of your loss. I can’t imagine the pain it took for you to deliver that beautiful tributes in NYC and at the funeral. I am so sorry for your loss. It was a difficult read to understand what Beau was going through. But, I was able to remember Beau. It felt good to hear his voice. I am so thankful your father shared Beau with the world again. He is missed... I hope you are hanging in there! Eric Sent from my iPhone
