Hi there - Two weeks ago we received a $10,000 donation from a classmate of Judge Alan Cooper’s. I spoke with him, and he indicated a group of his and Judge Cooper’s classmates would be more than willing to continue to donate to the foundation if we found a way to honor Judge Cooper. Patty and I kicked around the idea of the Foundation giving an award at the Protecting Delaware’s Children conference (conference happens every other year) in Coop’s name. The awardee would be a guardian ad lightem or a court appointed special advocate. The award would cost us not much money - just the cost of a good looking plaque or something like a crystal vase. I think this is a great way to do something nice for Nancy (Coop’s his wife) and his kids, plus a good way for us to bring in some money every other year we’d not get otherwise. Patty likes the idea. There weren’t a lot of judges on family court Beau really got along with - meaning, they were as committed to child protection matters as he was. Coop was the exception. If you guys are comfortable with this idea, let me know by Thursday - I’d like to talk to Nancy. The next time this conference meets in April.
