Photo by Shields Sundberg, Upper School history teacher.“It has been our great pleasure to shepherd the Trust that established the Faculty Venture Grant Program. This year we transferred the Trust to the SFS endowment in order to create The Faculty Enrichment Fund. We’ve entrusted this named endowed fund to the School to support the Faculty Venture Grant Program going forward. We are confident that the School’s investment of these assets and careful stewardship will result in continued growth of this program.”— Anonymous DonorsGail Krotky, Upper School history teacher, applied for a Faculty Venture Grant to develop a new for-credit summer course in Uruguay.“I wanted to develop an in-country case study where students could further their passion in a region by traveling to the country and coupling their academic knowledge with experiential knowledge of the place. The Grant allowed me to explore and research what it would take to create the best transformative academic experience possible. The Faculty Grant allowed me to create a very meaningful program that will run for its second year in summer 2015.”In 2014, nine students participated in Uruguay Summer Study – Redefining Latin America in the 21st Century. You can view photos of the trip, read the class blog, and watch a video of Gail talking about her experience online. This is just one of many stories about how philanthropy makes an impact at Sidwell Friends.Continue the conversation at www.sidwell.edu/advancingfriends. 3825 Wisconsin Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20016 Tel: 202-537-8100 Fax: 202-537-8138 Please unsubscribe me from all future e-mails about advancement events: To unsubscribe, please click here
