Chris Christie arrives for Cowboys-Packers game ... and immediately insults
Philly fans

*GREEN BAY —* The reddish-orange sweater has entered Lambeau Field, but for
now, it is hidden under a long wool coat and scarf. Gov. Chris Christie has
come prepared for the elements in Green Bay — although the locals
considered the high-teen temperatures "mild" — to watch his favorite
football team.

But so far, the reception for Christie has been anything but frosty. "The
people here are great," he said soon after entering through a stadium
loading dock. "This isn't like going to Philly. That's a different story."

So he wasn't 20 steps into the iconic stadium, home to a few
Packers-Cowboys games of note before this one, before a man in a yellow
security jacket stopped him with an extended hand.

"Hey guys, how are you?" Christie said.

"Welcome to Lambeau Field, sir!" the man said.

"I'm happy to be here, fellas. Thanks."

Christie, as his spokesman promised late last week, said he paid his own
way and flew commercial out of LaGuardia. He had an early-evening flight
that, he said, was filled with fans for both teams.

"We were the last two on board," he said, referring to his son Andrew, "and
the reaction was great. There were a lot of Cowboy fans on the plane, and
they were cheering, but then you had the Packers fans yelling, 'You got no
chance!'"

The Packers are 5 1/2-point favorites but Christie — citing his inside
knowledge — said he likes the Cowboys' chances.

"I do," he said. "I like the way they're playing, and having spent some
time around them the last four or five weeks now, they're a very confident
group. They won't get flustered today. They may not win, but they won't get
flustered."

He arrived independently of his pal, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, but he said
he'll be at his side again, watching from the luxury boxes high above the
so-called frozen tundra. Fox director Rich Russo told the NY Daily News
that the network would "not going into this game looking for Governor
Christie"

— cue the laugh track — but even Christie seemed flummoxed at the
attention.

"I'm totally amazed by it — and I'm not somebody who's not used to
attention, but the attention to this has been completely over the top," he
said. "But it is what it is, right?"

Then, before boarding an elevator to his box seats, he confirmed what
everyone no doubt expected: He'll likely be headed to Seattle for the NFC
Championship Game if Tony Romo and Co. pull the upset.

"I think I'll have to, right?" Christie said. "But we'll see what my day
job lets me do or not let me do."
