At the ceremony at Paris police headquarters, broadcast on national television, Hollande posthumously gave the three France’s top honor, the Legion d'Honneur.

"They died carrying out their duty with courage, bravery, dignity,” Hollande said. “They died as police officers."

Meanwhile in Jerusalem, thousands <a style="font-weight:bold;color:#ea1414;" href="http://link.foreignpolicy.com/5253172ac16bcfa46f6bd4c7263yp.23o4/VLUoK0mOndBMzOuxAdd99>turned out for the funeral of the four men killed by a gunman at a Paris grocery. “This is not how we wanted to welcome you to Israel. We wanted you alive,” Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said at the ceremony. “The leaders of Europe must act and take a strong hand to bring back the security of the Jews of Europe.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also appeared at the funeral, where he repeated his call for Jews in Europe who no longer feel safe there to move to Israel. “Jews have the right to live in many countries, and it’s their right to live there with full security,” Netanyahu said. “But I believe they know, deep in their hearts, that they have one country, the state of Israel, that is their historic homeland.”

Nigeria: Responding to reports that as many as 2,000 people may have been killed by Boko Haram in and around the town of Baga, Nigeria’s military <a style="font-weight:bold;color:#ea1414;" href="http://link.foreignpolicy.com/5253172ac16bcfa46f6bd4c7263yp.23o4/VLUoK0mOndBMzOuyA664f>said that the total death toll was no more than 150, a figure that includes dead Nigerian troops. The country’s military officials have often been accused of downplaying casualty counts, and the controversy over events in Baga comes as Nigeria prepares for presidential elections in which the war with Boko Haram is likely to be a major issue.
