I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day. As we celebrate the mothers in our lives, it’s also critically important to recognize the ways we could be doing more for mothers and moms-to-be.

Pregnant women face discrimination in the workplace every day, and it’s inexcusable. No one should be forced to choose between a paycheck and a healthy pregnancy.

I introduced the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, with colleagues on both sides of the aisle, to try to combat this discrimination – but all of Congress needs to make this a priority. Pressure from you can make that happen – will you add your name today?

Three-quarters of working women become pregnant at some point in their careers.

Denying these women reasonable accommodations or forcing them onto unpaid leave is no way to create and support healthy families, which should be a priority of any modern nation.

Allowing a pregnant worker to take an extra bathroom break, carry a water bottle or be temporarily assigned to lighter duty is a matter of fairness and justice. Without this law, pregnant workers will continue to be denied these reasonable accommodations.

We need to stand up for pregnant workers, for economic security and for basic fairness. Add your name to help me make this right:
