The organization, DC Volunteer Lawyers Project, represents women and families escaping domestic violence. My family has long involved in the issue of domestic violence. My father-in-law, VP Biden, authored the Violence Against Women Act. My organization, DCVLP, has been working to protect families in DC for the last seven years.

We are also hoping to honor Senator Gillibrand that evening. In the past we have honored my father-in-law and philanthropist Adrianne Arsht.
