Former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden plans to run for governor but is making a pit stop in the private sector, taking a job Monday at a Wilmington law firm.

Biden, who left office last week, will be counsel to Grant & Eisenhofer, a firm run by Democratic donor Stuart Grant.

“We are thrilled to welcome Beau Biden to G&E. During his eight years as AG, Beau led a number of significant justice-based initiatives, including his key role in the historic global settlement with the country’s largest banks in bringing financial relief to Delaware homeowners and others harmed by the subprime mortgage crisis,” Grant said in a statement.

“Beau’s successful record of service, enforcement and results align perfectly with our firm’s mission,” added Grant, who raised between $200,000 and $500,000 for the 2012 Obama campaign.

Biden announced in April that he would not be running for a third term as attorney general and indicated plans to run in Delaware’s 2016 gubernatorial race.

“It’s been a great privilege and honor to serve the citizens of Delaware the past eight years and I feel my record and commitment to justice will translate well into private practice,” Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, said in the statement.

The vice president’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
