After four months on the run, Abdeslam, 26, was arrested in the Molenbeek neighborhood of Brussels last month. Just days after his arrest, terrorists thought to be a part of the same ring attacked the Belgian capital, killing more than 30.

Abdeslam is a French citizen and law enforcement officials say he is the last surviving member of the group of terrorists who launched a series of coordinated attacks in Paris that killed 130 people last year.

His lawyer, Frenchman Frank Berton, <a style="font-weight:bold;color:#ea1414;" href="http://link.foreignpolicy.com/click/6597870.23189/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5iYmMuY29tL25ld3Mvd29ybGQtZXVyb3BlLTM2MTQ3NTc1Ig/5253172ac16bcfa46f6bd4c7Bd623ab32>said that he fears a court will be unable to separate Abdeslam’s exact role in the attacks from how his fellow terrorists used guns and suicide vests to cause as much damage as possible. Berton said Wednesday that he hopes his client can be judged "for what he has done and not what he has not done... not for what he represents because he is the last survivor.”

U.S. Primaries: Republican real estate mogul Donald Trump swept in Tuesday’s five primaries, inching him closer to securing the delegates he needs to be named the Republican nominee. Democrat Hillary Clinton won four out of five states, but lost Rhode Island to rival Bernie Sanders, the senator from Vermont. She now has 90 percent of the delegates she needs to secure the nomination. Trump said he considers Tuesday’s series of big wins to be a decisive victory. “When the boxer knocks out the other boxer, you don’t have to wait around for a decision,” he said at his own Trump Tower in New York. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s over.”

He also took the opportunity to <a style="font-weight:bold;color:#ea1414;"
