Rice had 16 carries for 99 yards and six catches for 53 yards during Sunday's loss at Philadelphia. Another solid performance from Rice, although he failed to get into the end zone despite 152 total yards. He was targeted 10 times, many of which were short passes in the fourth quarter with Joe Flacco under duress. Rice remains an elite running back and has an important game next Sunday night against New England.

Newton completed 14-of-20 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown, and added 13 carries for 71 yards and another score, during Sunday's win over the Saints. Newton was back to his old self Sunday after a very tough performance in Week 1 against the Bucs. He completed passes to six different receivers, although it was the rushing attack that paced the Panthers on Sunday, with Newton's leading the way with his career-high 71 yards.


Larry Fitzgerald - (Sun, Sep 16, 2012)
Fitzgerald had one catch for four yards in the Cards' win over the Patriots on Sunday. Fitzgerald was only targeted five times after seeing 11 targets last week. One could chalk that up to the Patriots' defense, but fantasy owners may also want to note that Fitzgerald also struggled last year when Kevin Kolb was under center as opposed to John Skelton.

Richardson registered his first career 100-yard rushing game Sunday at Cincinnati. He finished with 109 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Richardson also scored one through the air, and racked up 36 yards on four catches. This is the type of all-around performance that had experts projecting the rookie runner as high as a late-first round pick in fantasy drafts before his setback with his knee caused him to miss most of camp and the preseason. The Browns offense is very young, so some inconsistency should be expected from all their skill position players, Richardson included, but get this guy active in all leagues.

Richardson (knee) had 19 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown, as well as four catches for 36 yards and another score, during Sunday's loss at Cincinnati. This is the performance that fantasy owners were hoping for when they took Richardson early in their drafts. The rookie running back was a beast Sunday, but couldn't do quite enough to bring the Browns a victory. He has another favorable matchup next week against the Bills, who allowed 150 rushing yards to the Chiefs on Sunday.

Richardson (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals, the Browns' official Twitter feed reports. After a disappointing performance with a heavy workload in Week 1 against Philadelphia, Richardson will look to turn things around as the Browns' feature back Sunday.

Richardson (knee, probable) practiced fully all week, the Browns' official site reports. Richardson will be out there Sunday against the Bengals, having experienced no setbacks with his knee since playing this past Sunday, carrying 19 times for 39 yards in the process. In his second game as a pro, he'll take aim against a Cincinnati defense that gave up 122 yards on 23 carries (5.3 yards per carry) to the Ravens in Week 1.

Gore rushed 17 times for 89 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 16 yards against the Lions on Sunday. While the 49ers may be limiting Gore's touches in an effort to keep him fresh and injury-free, he is certainly making the most of them, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and finding the end zone in each of his first two games. While, ultimately, we'd like to see him touch the ball a little more often, you can't argue with his level of production thus far. He remains a must-start but faces a tough test next week as Minnesota has allowed just 197 yards on the ground for an average of just 3.1 yards per attempt and no rushing touchdowns through the first two games.

Gore is looking to repeat his 15-carry 145 yards with a touchdown performance he had last season against the Lions. Gore is coming off an impressive 112 yards with a touchdown performance against the Packers last week and offensive coordinator Greg Roman is likely to open Sunday night's game against the Lions with a similar game plan. With the use of 6-foot-6, 355 pound Leonard Davis as a tight end and 6-foot-3, 308 pound Daniel Kilgore as a wingback to help improve the blocking, Gore should have another highly productive game this week.

Maclin suffered another hip contusion Sunday and will be hard-pressed to practice Wednesday, Philadelphia Inquirer writer Jeff McLane reports. It's a little early to get a read on Maclin's Week 3 status, but at the very least, we do know that he's sore and his progress will need to be monitored closely leading up to Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Maclin did manage a 23-yard touchdown on his only catch of the game, which helps his owners, but he'll presumably be limited at practice this week, if he is able to take the field at all.

Considering that he was limited in practice Friday, there is a possibility that Maclin won't see his usual volume of targets in Week 2. Still, it would take a very good alterative option to bench him, even in a difficult matchup at less than 100 percent health.

Davis caught five passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions on Sunday. If Davis wasn't considered an elite tight end coming into this season, he's certainly making a case for himself here just two weeks in. He was targeted a team-high seven times (tied with Michael Crabtree) this week to give him 12 on the year and is now averaging 14.5 yards per catch with three touchdowns. His matchup with the Vikings next week is a favorable one as they've allowed a total of 484 yards through the air, with two touchdowns against them going to opposing tight ends. He may not have the touchdown celebration down pat yet but it looks like he's going to get plenty of opportunities to perfect that aspect of his game.

Gonzalez caught seven passes for 70 yards and a touchdown Monday against the Broncos. With the Broncos aiming to take Julio Jones out of the game, Gonzo became Matt Ryan's favorite option behind Roddy White, garnering 10 targets on the night. With 12 catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns through the first two games, the veteran tight end is showing no signs of slowing down in what could be his final season.

Tate had 12 carries for 74 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's win at Jacksonville. He also added four catches for 23 yards. Tate scored on runs of eight and two yards, poaching a few touches from Arian Foster, although the latter still managed to run for over 100 yards and a score. Tate will have games like Sunday, but it's important to remember that Foster is still the lead back in Houston.

Akers was 2-for-2 on field goals and was successful on all three of his extra point attempts during Sunday's win over the Lions. Just another day at the office for the 49ers kicker, who is now 5-for-5 on field goals and equally perfect on PATs. His longest of the day was 48 yards, which obviously pales in comparison to the 63-yarder he nailed last week, but he is again proving to be an extremely reliable fantasy choice this season.


David Akers - (Sat, Sep 15, 2012)
The last time the 49ers faced the Lions, Akers was 3-for-3 on field goals, including a 55-yarder, and was successful on both extra point attempts. While it would be very difficult to repeat last year's record-setting totals, Akers is certainly off to a nice start this season. He's not only incredibly accurate (44-for-52 on field goal and 34-for-34 on extra points last year), but he's also showing tremendous strength as well as evidenced by last week's record-tying 63-yarder.


Brent Celek - (Sun, Sep 16, 2012)
Celek had eight catches for 157 yards during Sunday's win over the Ravens. Celek led the Eagles in receptions, targets and receiving yards, although he was unable to get into the end zone. He appears to have become Michael Vick's favorite target and he's especially valuable in PPR leagues.

Smith completed 20-of-31 pass attempts for 226 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for seven yards on four carries to help lead the 49ers past the Lions, 27-19, on Sunday. It was another efficient and mistake-free day for Smith, who extended his streak of pass attempts without an interception to 216, dating back to last season. He also seemed to blossom into something a little more than just a game manager as he did a great job of reading defensive schemes and directed the offense accordingly. He made the tough throws on third down when he needed to, found favorite scoring target Vernon Davis for a pair of touchdowns and showed decent mobility when flushed out of the pocket. He would have had another 20 rushing yards had Delanie Walker not been called for holding on a great sideline run. While far from being a top-10 quarterback still, Smith is looking more and more like a decent option when you need a bye-week filler. He'll look to continue his growth next week when the Niners take on the Vikings, a team that has allowed 484 yards and four touchdowns through the air over the first two games of the season.

Smith is looking to extend his streak of 185 straight passing attempts without an interception when he takes on the Lions this Sunday night. Smith has faced the Lions three times in his career, tossing just one interception in 83 passes, so there is a chance his streak lives on for another week. However, the Lions defense has been susceptible to big plays, and although Smith is very protective of the ball and doesn't take too many risks, the temptation to unload the ball downfield could be too tough to overcome. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman will tailor a game plan to help control the ball against a Lions team that had 21 interceptions last year, sixth-highest in the league, so expect Smith to remain conservative for the most part.
