REMARKS BY VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN
AND DR. JILL BIDEN AT A FRIENDS AND FAMILY RECEPTION

DR. BIDEN: Hi. Thank you all for coming tonight. I wanted to ask you to all please raise your glasses because I really think Joe did such a phenomenal job. (Applause.) And I'm so proud of him. So, Joe, it's going to be a great next four years with you as Vice President. (Applause.)

Wait a minute. Wait. So the one thing I have to add, though, is we have to thank our teams because our staffs are incredible -- absolutely incredible. (Applause.) It takes a team to put it all together, and Mike Donilon and Steve Ricchetti and Bruce and everybody who is with Joe -- he has a wonderful team. And I also have to thank all my team, Cathy Russell, everyone who has supported me. So thank you for support -- all of your support because we couldn't do it without you. You've got to work hard for us.

Here's Joe.

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Thank you, babe. (Applause.) Hey, guys, you've heard enough from me tonight. And just let me say -- no, no, no, thank you. But I just want you to, on behalf of our son Beau and Hallie, and our son Hunter and Kathleen, and our daughter, Ashley, and Howard, the whole family, I just want to say -- state the obvious -- which isn't often said, I look out in the audience and some of you have been helping me for almost as long as I've been around. And all of you have been helping the team. And I just want you to know, we don't say it often enough, it's been your loyalty, your love, your support -- and the support in the lousy times. A lot of you out there have been with Jill and I when things weren't so hot, and you were as loyal to us then, you were as decent to us then, and you're now -- we know -- not a joke -- the only reason we're standing here in these positions is because of all of you. So from the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you, and let's go get them.
