Since Social Security was created 81 years ago, it’s provided a financial safety net for millions of Americans who would, otherwise, be living in dire poverty.

But Republicans want to tear up this covenant with the American people. If they get their way, they plan to gut Social Security, forcing millions of seniors to cope on their own.

Up and down the ballot, GOP candidates are running against Social Security, including right here in New York. During my time in local legislature, I’ve seen the drastic consequences this can have.

My opponent Peter King has a 15% lifetime rating from the Alliance for Retired Americans, showing a poor commitment to helping and protecting seniors. With another term, he’ll continue to weaken Social Security.

I’m committed to taking King, Donald Trump, and rest of the extreme GOP this year – and winning! But, it’s important we stand together now to defend one of our strongest social safety nets.
