Stubbs & Wootton for J.Crew Slippers

Introducing our new footwear fancy: the velvet slipper. First
worn by men in early 20th-century England who would change into
these handmade house slippers after muddying their boots on the
unpaved roads, slip-ons quickly became in vogue among gentlemen as
formal evening wear too. Inspired by the shoe's highbrow history,
Stubbs & Wootton first set up shop in a tiny Palm Beach boutique in
'93 and quickly became the authority on the style, officially taking
the slipper out of the bedroom with a 3/4" leather heel. Thanks to
a small community of highly skilled artisans in La Mancha, Spain, our
exclusive three-style collection features plush velvet, rich fall-ready
hues and elaborate needlepoint embroidery. Viva la velvet, we say.
