Dear Kathleen and Hunter,

I hope you had a wonderful summer! The boys and I had a fantastic time and
just arrived back in town. I know I had mentioned the Wendt Center to you
the last time we saw one another and I just want to follow up to see if you
would have any interest in supporting this wonderful organization.

The Wendt Center is an amazing organization that provides critical
counseling services to children and families in the DC metropolitan area.I
was also thinking that it may be a place that Halie and the children would
find helpful. The Wendt Center has a very special place in my family’s
hearts as Alex, Gabriel and I were clients after Karim passed away. We were
so blessed to have the support of the Wendt Center to help us all through
such a devastating period in our lives. It was our therapist, Stephanie, at
the Wendt Center who helped the boys and I focus on being courageous and
hopeful after Karim died. She encouraged us to feel our sadness but then
gave us helpful ways to manage it and carry on. I credit Stephanie for
helping us to realize our inner strength and encourage us to live our lives
in a different, yet fulfilling way.


The Wendt Center not only serves clients like us, but also is strongly
focused on reaching out to children and families in underserved
communities. These efforts have gained significant momentum and the Wendt
Center now has counselors in more than 20 District schools in an effort to
reach the youngest and most vulnerable people who need help. They are also
increasing their reach to victims of crime and violence throughout the
District in an effort to restore a sense of safety and hope to those whose
lives have been shattered by trauma.


I am writing to ask you to consider supporting the incredibly valuable work
of this organization. Please help the Wendt Center expand its reach and
continue to fulfill its healing mission. I would be extremely grateful if
you would consider joining the Benefit Committee. The commitment asks that
you reach out to friends and colleagues to spread the word about the Wendt
Center and their resources and purchase a ticket to attend the Gala ($350)
or a Sponsorship (please see attached).


It would be very meaningful to have you both join me at the 41st Annual
Benefit on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Four Seasons Hotel in
Georgetown. David Gregory will serve as our emcee and our guest speaker
will be announced shortly. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
