Founded by Save the Children in 2014, Save the Children Action Network is a 501 (c)(4) organization that aims to mobilize Americans around a commitment that cannot wait - investing in early childhood now.

Dear Hunter,

As you may know, I started my career with Save the Children as its Vice President of U.S. Programs (USP). I led that division for more than 10 years before creating Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) to be the political voice for kids. Now, three and a half years after SCAN was launched—and with a nationwide supporter list of 200,000 that is growing every day, policy and political wins at the local, state and federal levels, and heightened awareness of the need to invest in programs that give all kids a fair chance—I am thrilled to announce that SCAN and USP are joining forces. Effective immediately, I will serve as Save the Children’s Senior Vice President for U.S. Programs and Advocacy, while retaining my role as President of SCAN.

Although SCAN will remain a separate legal entity due to its political activities, we will align our efforts wherever possible. And better alignment will ensure better results, with our programs informing our advocacy agenda, and our advocacy efforts leading to improved policy and increased funding for children in need across the United States.

Of course, SCAN also remains committed to its other priority issue: maternal, newborn and child survival. That campaign is a critically important part of our strategy; we have made tremendous progress over the last few years and our dedication to ending preventable maternal and child deaths around the world is unwavering.

These are interesting times, to say the least, but I am energized by this new opportunity. We have a lot of hard work ahead, but I am convinced that this is the right thing to do and it couldn’t come at a better time. I hope I can continue to count on your support – I can’t do it without you.
