So, if you put 20% down, you would need a loan of $315K, which over 30 years
at 6% interest is $1889 a month in mortgage payments. Of course, 20% down
is almost $80K. But I wonder if we could find four of us to each put down
$20K (you, me, Beau and Chris?) and split it four ways. According to the
website if you rented it out for 16 weeks, that would cover all the taxes,
utilities and management and condo fees and net you $3K a year. That leaves
you with 36 weeks to split among the owners. And of course the monthly
mortgage payment split four ways is about $475 a month. Could be a good
investment AND you get a vacation place for 9 weeks a year (that you could
even go to for long weekends since it is so close).
