At Baltimore Collegiate, the education our students receive builds upon itself.
We are not merely teaching our students the content of their courses, we are teaching
them how to learn.
You may recall receiving a letter from us earlier this year that highlighted our
most recent PARCC score report, which is a reliable snapshot of grade-level progress.
Just as they did in 2015-16, our boys scored higher than their city school peers
in Math and English/Language Arts in 2016-17.
We believe that data is an important factor in increasing student achievement, especially
as we aim to continue shifting the educational landscape for boys in Baltimore.
So, after digging deeper into the data we had, we revealed even more tremendous
accomplishments from this past school year.
Because our student population is 100% male and 99% African American, we benchmark
ourselves both against the city and against African American males in the city.

While this is exciting news, we know that high test scores are not enough to get
our gentlemen through college. Just as important are the social capital, confidence,
and grit they need to succeed in a system that is not necessarily built for them.
