The Trump administration has expelled 15 Cuban diplomats from the embassy in Washington in an escalating response to mysterious illnesses afflicting U.S. embassy personnel in Havana, as Gardiner Harris and Julie Hirschfeld of

There is so much sadness across this great nation following the horror in Las Vegas. And then, late yesterday afternoon we learned that one of America’s most beloved musicians passed away unexpectedly at 66 after suffering a heart attack.

Tom Petty’s music meant so much to so many people. I’ve played more Petty smiles than from any other artist—he’s my all-time favorite.

Last year, Petty’s incredible keyboard player Benmont Tench of the Heartbreakers told me that when he was a freshman at Tulane (my alma mater), Petty called him and said, “Come back to Florida, we’ve got music to make.” Benmont left school the next day. It proved to be an excellent decision. I will always smile about that when I think of Tom Petty and the amazing music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTeNhhm2v58&utm_source=CSIS+All&utm_campaign=5712034632-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_10_03&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f326fc46b6-5712034632-145367789) he treated all of us to for the past four decades.
