72,000 Iowans will lose their health care coverage as of January 1, 2018 -- and I’m one of them.

Governor Kim Reynolds has officially withdrawn her request for a stopgap health insurance waiver. This will leave our state’s individual health care market exchange with only one provider, Medica, in 2018, who plans on increasing their premiums by 57%.

When I resigned from my previous job in order to focus solely on my businesses in Spencer, I lost the insurance I had through my employer. Thankfully, I was able to purchase an Affordable Care Act plan offered through Wellmark Blue Cross. But now that plan is being canceled December 31, 2017, thanks to Gov. Reynolds and her Republican allies in D.C.

What happens when a family can't afford Medica? No one should be forced to chose between going to the doctor or paying for groceries.

Congressman Steve King and his fellow members of Congress continue to fail to act on affordable healthcare and now Gov. Reynolds is sabotaging our only options for relief as Trump continues to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. It was up to both state and federal leaders to fix this mess -- but neither seems interested in helping Iowans.

So join me and demand our federal and local leaders protect our right to affordable health care.

Gov. Reynolds and her allies in D.C. have put all sorts of barriers up to make it as difficult and discouraging as possible for families to purchase insurance.

And Steve King refused to come up with common sense solutions to make sure health care is affordable for everyone.

They've got it all backward, and are putting politics over people. We need to join together and demand that all of our elected officials start looking out for us right now — add your name.
