This month, Truman gathered in Chicago for a salon hosted by Anne Wedner, a Truman Project Board Member, and in Los Angeles with Bob Abernathy, also a Truman Project Board Member. NewFounders Conference in Chicago.


Anna Gohmann Anna Gohmann is the Senior Director for Influencer Strategy at Comcast NBCUniversal. She has also held roles in strategy, data analysis, finance, and business development at the company. Previously, Gohmann served in the Obama Administration as an Advisor to the Administrator at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) where she oversaw special projects related to strategic engagement, media relations, and internal communications. She previously led all communications in support of the U.S. government’s relief efforts in the wake of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. She began her career as a Press Secretary for Congresswoman Melissa Bean (D-IL). Gohmann received her BA in History and English from Georgetown University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.


Gohmann co-leads the Philadelphia Chapter of Truman with KC Roney. Alongside the other Chapter leaders, Roney and Gohmann are working to support Truman-led activities in a variety of areas, including service, political engagement, and communications. This fall, Truman members volunteered to tend plots at a garden in South Philly where refugees are able to grow vegetables and other plants that are local to the areas from which they hail.

Truman Dinner Series in Chicago
On 17 October, Truman Project Board Member Anne Wedner held the first Truman Dinner Series event at her home in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She hosted more than 30 people which included local and national Truman members and local supporters. During the dinner, Truman experts led lively discussions on North Korea, the future of the Iran Deal, and countering violent extremism. On the heels of such a successful event, we have decided to expand this style event to other cities, and we will be sure to let you know when we are in your area!
Truman Support for the Iran Deal
On 13 October, President Trump announced that his decision not re-certify the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran Deal, and the Truman community responded resoundingly. Following the announcement, Truman immediately released message guidance for allies and a

statement denouncing the administration’s decision as “the wrong choice for our national security.” Meanwhile, our members secured more than 20 earned and placed media hits nationwide arguing for Congress to uphold the deal in the absence of leadership from the executive branch.
Dinner by Truman Project’s Los Angeles Chapter
On 24 October, Truman National Security Project’s Los Angeles Chapter hosted a dinner at the home of Truman Center Board Member, Bob Abernethy.

Truman President and CEO Michael Breen also attended the gathering, which discussed Truman’s strategic planning review process, our projected growth over the next three to five years, and how the LA Chapter can provide support.

The NewFounders Conference, held for the first time this year, is a gathering of organizational leaders from across the country committed to reshaping the future of politics in America.
