Panel Discussion ------------------------------ Voices from the Field: Youth Engagement Perspectives from Albania & Myanmar 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Tuesday October 24, 2017 National Democratic Institute, 455 Massachusetts Ave. NW, 8th Floor The Citizen Participation Team invites you to join us for a discussion featuring: Zin Min Thu Program Officer, NDI Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar Gasper Gjeluci Senior Program Officer, NDI Tirana, Albania Rachel E Mims Program Officer, Youth Political Participation Moderator Gasper and Zin will share their experiences working on youth political participation and discuss the roles young people are playing in Albania and Myanmar. Both bring first-hand perspectives on the barriers to participation that young women and men encounter and what can be done to help youth overcome them. The discussion will be framed by NDI’s theory of change, which unifies the different factors that combine to foster meaningful, sustained youth political participation. NDI would like to thank Google for funding Gasper and Zin’s visit to DC and their participation in the University of Virginia’s Youth-Nex Conference (October 26-27), where they also will present lessons from their youth political participation work.
