In Iowa, wind energy equals jobs. It’s plain and simple: not only is wind energy good for the environment, the industry employs tens of thousands of people in our state alone.

But earlier this week, the Trump administration began the process of rolling back the Clean Power Plan, an Obama era plan that required U.S. power plants to shift to cleaner sources of energy.

Under the new rules put in place by EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, states will not have to follow the clean energy guidelines, giving the coal industry a leg up and causing Iowa's wind-energy manufacturing industry to suffer and lose business.

Mid-American Energy is in the middle of one of the biggest wind energy investments ever made in our state. When this project is complete, our wind industry could provide a large majority of our electricity and even export electricity to other states. But, by pulling the Climate Power Plan, Trump’s administration is reducing demand for Iowa wind.
