Biographical Information
Sameh Hassan Shoukry assumed his position as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United States on September 22, 2008.

Prior to his current post, Ambassador Shoukry served as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva from 2005 to 2008. He served as Assistant Foreign Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2005. He was Ambassador to Austria from 1999 to 2003, during which period he also served as Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna and Governor of Egypt on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Ambassador Shoukry received his Law Degree from Ein Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1975. He is fluent in Arabic and English.
