Friends: The IUPAT has over 150 members in Washington DC this week talking to their members of congress about Jobs and investing in our countries crumbling infrastructure, safety, wage protections, project labor agreements, and the budget. In order to highlight our members efforts we have sponsored politicos daily email "PLAYBOOK" see here http://www.politico.com/playbook/ as a way to further drive the message our members are carrying to the hill. We have paired this sponsorship with a series of targeted online ads specifically on google and on Facebook. All of these link to our website www.iupat.org/jobs were interested parties can learn more about putting the construction industry back to work or what a project labor agreement is. As we have already gotten some press on the campaign we seem to getting off on the right track. See the huffpo price here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/04/huffpost-hill-white-house_1_n_844737.html And the section about the IUPATs campaign is here. CONSTRUCTION WORKERS IN TOWN - The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades is flying in to Washington and prepped the way with a week long Playbook buy and assorted other web ads. It wasn't easy for the hardhats to embrace all this newfangled media, but what the hell, why not? "I think some people look at us, they see a union that represents construction workers, and are a bit surprised when they see everything that we're doing with new media," Jimmy Williams, the union's general president, told HuffPost Hill. "But they shouldn't be...For example, not so long ago we were putting job alerts out by telephone and faxes. Today, we're texting them out to thousands of members' mobile phones and posting them on Facebook and other web sites." Just wanted to keep you updated on wHat the IUPAT was doing. Feel free to pass this along.... And contact me with any questions. All the best and keep fighting the good fight, Chris Chris Sloan IUPAT Government Affairs Cell: 202.340.2564 Office: 410.564.5880 Sent from my iPad
