Dear BKP Families, Thanks to each of you for your support of yesterday's weather decision. It was a tough call to make. Elements is in the homestretch and there are a few logistics to relay to you.This will be our 5th year of competing (FANTASY) in the Greatest Race on Earth - That is the Alaskan Iditarod. The race started this past weekend and the mushers are off and running. Your child was meant to choose out of a hat the name of a Musher yesterday. Since we were unable to make our picks- I have given them their Musher based on their order on the attendance sheet. See the attachment to get their bib number and see below the instructions about following along in the actual race.MARCH 17th - is the last day for Elements BKP. We will be competing in our 5th Annual Elements Idita- run (or walk). The kids will cover the terrain that they have been exploring over the last 9 weeks. We will have check points throughout the course and welcome PARENT VOLUNTEERS. Please let me know if you can be at Elements next week to help with the race. If so - I will need you at 4:15.Final Awards Ceremony will be at the end of the Idita-run. Again, you are welcome to join (around 5ish) - We will be holding the closing ceremony in the area where we usually gather at the end of Elements BKP. Margaret and the Elements Crew 2011 FANTASY IDITAROD: Musher Information for ELEMENTS MUSHERS The Iditarod started this past Sunday, March 6th in Willow, Alaska. There are 62 teams (Musher with his team of 16 dogs). They will be racing from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. This is 1131 miles of extremely challenging terrain and freezing cold temperatures. The first dog’s nose to cross the finish line is the Champion Team. You can track the daily progress of your Musher by going to the official website of the Iditarod - www.iditarod.com You will be able to check where he/she is on the Interactive map and see what their ranking is as they pass the 26 checkpoints.
