I wanted to brief you on a very important issue VoteVets.org has been working on for the past couple of weeks. As you may have heard, before he left his post, Leon Panetta approved a new Distinguished Warfare Medal to be awarded to drone pilots. While VoteVets.org doesn't have an issue with the medal itself, we did hear from our supporters that it was very problematic that the medal would out-rank the Purple Heart.

We engaged in an email campaign to hear our members' opinions, which netted over 5,000 email responses strongly opposed to placement of the medal, and ran a press campaign to voice their opinion. Below, you will find stories regarding Secretary Hagel's decision to halt the medal's production for 30 days, as he reviews the issue. This is a real success for us, and VoteVets.org is quoted in the stories below.
