Hunter, See attached and below. JDRF has invited the Vice President to join an event as part of Children’s Congress. My daughter, Caitlin who has type 1 diabetes (as do I), is the DC delegate for Children’s Congress and will be at the event. It would be wonderful to have your father participate. If there is anything you can do to help get this request considered, that would be terrific. I appreciate your help in advance and happy to discuss. Hope to see you soon, Best, Tim Timothy C. Apparently, Stefany and her parents (Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Bill Shaheen) just spent time with the Vice President in New Hampshire about 10 days ago and wanted to see if there’s any chance he could meet with the Children’s Congress delegates in DC later this month. As you know the Children’s Congress will have 150 very cute kids with type 1 diabetes from all 50 states and DC who will be in town to promote research and innovative therapies to cure and better treat the disease. For the White House, I think the event could be an opportunity to underscore their commitment to a budget that wins the future (since we support NIH and FDA funding), or just a way to get stories about kids saying it was great to meet the Vice President. As you know, the event generates significant regional press across the country. We’re inviting the Vice President to take part in the song performance, which will be held the afternoon of Tuesday June 21st with the Capitol dome as the backdrop. The Shaheens are going to follow up with the Vice President’s office, and I’ve reached out to Bruce Reed, his chief of staff. Could you share with your contacts, and encourage them to consider it? Thanks, and let me know if you have questions.
