Apply for the Alumni Relations and Marketing Manager role We are now accepting applications to fill this important role on our team, based in Milwaukie, Ore. (just south of Portland). The Alumni Relations and Marketing Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance, and expansion of JVC Northwest's volunteer alumni network across the United States. Efforts will focus on building relationships with Former Jesuit Volunteers (FJVs) and other supporters through effective planning, programming, marketing, and communications. The Alumni Relations and Marketing Manager will also promote awareness of JVC Northwest through external communications, marketing, and branding practices. Click here for more information. Apply today to be part of the JV EnCorps Program JV EnCorps convenes and supports volunteers 50 and older in part-time, meaningful service positions where they have a direct impact on people living on the margins. JV EnCorps members gather monthly from September-June to explore the four core values of community, social and ecological justice, simple living, and spirituality. There are JV EnCorps communities in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, and Vancouver, Wash., as well as Portland and Bend, Ore. The application deadline for the 2018-19 year is August 15th. We are preparing for the Fall 2018 edition of our biannual newsletter, Focus, and we’re asking former JVs to send in their news for Crossroads, the alumni updates section of the newsletter! Socializing Meets Social Justice JVC Northwest, JVC (based in Baltimore, MD), and Ignatian Solidarity Network welcome those connected to the Jesuits and the spirituality of St. Ignatius to join us for socializing and social justice. AmeriCorps Blog: Where a Kid Can Be a Kid: Creating Safe Spaces for Homeless Youth in Oregon JV AmeriCorps Member Monica Keenan (Aloha, OR '17-18) The children JVs serve are often in situations too difficult for their young minds to process. Monica Keenan, a JV who served with the Community Action Family Shelter in Hillsboro, Oregon, assisted youth experiencing homelessness in processing their emotions through the use of a sensory room. Events, Resources, & Reflections Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life Retreat begins September 2018 Many programs offered by Loyola Institute for Spirituality or other groups give people only a partial experience or an initial taste of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in large-group settings. You can experience the full Spiritual Exercises with an individual Spiritual Director who will accompany you through this profoundly transformative retreat experience over nine months. Contemplative Leaders in Action Applications for the 2018-2020 Cohort Extended for Charlotte, St. Louis, and Washington, DC. Are you in your 20's or 30's and searching for a community of peers who are striving to be purposeful leaders grounded in faith? Contemplative Leaders in Action (CLA) is a two-year faith formation and leadership development program for young adults (20's and 30's) rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. While the program nurtures individual growth, it also strives to develop a cohort of leaders who can bring the dynamics of faith and justice to lead their families, co-workers and communities. Ignatian Volunteer Corps New England Still accepting applications for 2018-19 Volunteer Year Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) New England still has several openings for the coming year (September to June). Magis Program Now Accepting Applications The next Magis cohort will begin March 2019 The Magis Program is a structured and creative way for people to engage more deeply in Ignatian spirituality, learn about the Jesuit Mission and Way of Proceeding, and meet other committed lay colleagues on the East Coast. The eighteen-month program consists of four 2-day seminars, one retreat, regular reading, personal reflection and prayer. Magis participants are lay women and men who desire to develop a greater familiarity with the Ignatian and Jesuit charism. The program team and seminar presenters are lay and Jesuit colleagues drawn from a variety of ministries. Click here for more information.
