The CGC is a non-profit dedicated to developing and advocating tax and
finance policies that help convert the U.S. and global economies from carbon
emissions-intensive practices to methods that are clean, renewable, and
affordable.

_Dear members, friends and supporters of the Coalition for Green Capital,_

We have made a historic achievement today and we wanted you to be the first to
know about what we have accomplished. Five months ago our Coalition was given
an extraordinary opportunity, thanks to our friend Dan Esty and his appointment
to be the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP), to develop a state-level green bank for the state of
Connecticut. Dan saw an opportunity for the CGC to make into reality what we
had been working on in theory for nearly two years and he wisely encouraged
members of our coalition to join him in creating a clean energy future for the
state of Connecticut.


Since January, two members of our team have been dedicated to this effort on
a daily basis. Alex Kragie has been living and working in Hartford, CT, full
time and Ken Berlin has joined him on a part-time basis, commuting weekly to
and from Hartford. They have worked tirelessly to make our goal - creating a
green bank in order to expand the market for renewable energy and energy
efficiency - into reality. Without them and without the foresight and
leadership provided by Commissioner Esty, this would not have been possible.

Of course we know the hard work does not end here today. But we have
achieved a significant milestone by accomplishing the first essential step
towards a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable Connecticut. We will
use what we have learned here and the model that has been developed in order
to provide every state with the option of making a change in their energy
infrastructure and embracing the same wise choice made by Dan and other
leaders in the state of CT. We have witnessed historic progress here today
and are delighted to share this with you.
Thank you for your support, guidance and all you have done to make this
vision into a reality.
