Weiner’s Wife Is Pregnant

Their marriage has become the subject of intense speculation and scrutiny amid an embarrassing online sex scandal.

Now, Representative Anthony D. Weiner and Huma Abedin are about to make news of a different kind: they are expecting their first child.

Ms. Abedin, 35, is in the early stages of pregnancy, according to three people with knowledge of the situation.

The pregnancy, which the couple has disclosed to close friends and family, adds a new dimension to questions about the future of their marriage.

Mr. Weiner, 46, has admitted to engaging in salacious online conversations with at least six women over the last few years, including an incident last month in which he sent a photograph of himself in underwear to a college student in Washington state. He apologized to his wife and declared that they have no intention of splitting up.

“We will weather this,” Mr. Weiner said on Monday, during his emotional news conference. “I love her very much, and she loves me.”

But Ms. Abedin, a longtime aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton, has remained silent about the topic as she keeps up a hectic schedule at the State Department.

Ms. Abedin returned to work this week and departed on Wednesday for a trip to Northern Africa with Ms. Clinton.

A State Department spokesman declined to comment Wednesday afternoon.

Oh good grief, this is the other shoe falling. Poor woman - at a time when she should be so excited, she has to deal with a MAN BEHAVING BADLY.

Can we elect women across the board? I think we will stop the shennanigans AND fix all our problems at once!

I feel bad for Ms. Abedin. I think without the pregnancy, she would have waited a discrete amount of time then left her loser husband. Now she'll have to weigh being stuck with him vs. not having a father around for their child.

As if she wasn't already in a tough spot...

I feel sorry for this woman, although she had to know what a weasel he was. I knew he was a lying repugnant person, and I have never met him. I hope she can change him, or find a good man.

What sort of "Close Friend" or "Family Member" would disclose this infromation to others, especially memebers of the press?
It appears that the only possible intent would be to engage in cruelty against Mr. Weiner, and most dispicably against Ms. Abedin.

If true, this could not come at a worse time for her. Knowing that there was a strong conservative conspiracy in getting AW, I now believe he should not resign (BC didn't resign), but he needs to keep his mouth shut, show up for every vote and close his Twitter accounts. Let his wife decide if she wants to stay, let AW's constituents decide if he will continue to be their Congressman.

Here we go again! If it isn't about celebrity nits like Paris Hilton or Charlie Sheen it's about the inconsequential sexual activities of Vitter or Weiner or Spitzer. And now we focus on Weiner's pregnant wife. For crying out loud, when are we going to get news of significant consequence like the amazing abilities of Senators and Congressmen to do seven to eleven percent better picking stock winners than even the experts on Wall Street? University researchers in Georgia and Florida have eye-opening figures on the investments of Washington politicians that somehow haven't managed to make the pages of the national press.

Fellow readers, do any of you wonder why Americans remain largely ignorant of genuine malfeasances in Congress by virtue of all the soporific sex scandals? Wake up, America! Demand honest investigative reporting on why Washington is dysfunctional and almost totally corrupt, on why the rich are being coddled while the remaining 98% of Americans are being shafted. Let's get less news from the bedrooms and more from the boardrooms. The latter are where the scandals grow like mushrooms in a dark basement.

This is really none of our business. Why do you report this personal item based upon reports from three anonymous sources? Because Mr. Weiner has been in the news? If he hadn't been in the news, this would not be newsworthy.

Anyway, Mazel Tov to the Weiners and let us hope baby Weiner inherits his mother's common sense.

how can she travel so much if she is in her trimester? i feel sorry for her. perhaps if she was not pregnant, she would have ended this relationship with ease. now it seems like everything is complicated. i feel sorry for his family too which the rep had a hard time convincing to marry him. i think her families doubts were real even though they can't pinpoint what exactly the doubts were. he gave up drinking because she is a practicing muslim. but he could not give up sexting. how sad!

When is one of these women going to leave? I feel like they're setting a bad example for all the women not in politics, the young girls who may look up to them as smart, career women. I know it's more complicated than what little bit we get to see, but, really, when is one of these guys going to get kicked to the curb already?

Awww, this changes everything. Let's let him keep his job as a Congressman. Nobody wants their kid to grow up with a bum for a daddy. Well, check that, I guess is already is a bum / cad / loser... so maybe that's a moot point.

Second thought, he should resign already. Stay home, paint the nursery, be a stay-at-home dad.

How did this news get leaked, if she only told "'close friends and family"? What kind of people surround this poor woman?! First, a weasle-like husband who brings her never-ending embarrassment, and now 'close friends and family' broadcasting her personal news.
