Dear everyone, I have some personal news I’d like to share. This morning, Henry Holt and Company announced that it will publish a book I am writing called, “A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sarge Shriver.” The book will tell the story of what I’ve learned from my Dad and his life, especially since his passing earlier this year. My Dad is not just my hero, but he embodies every quality to which I aspire as a father, husband, citizen and advocate. It goes without saying that this is an extraordinary opportunity and I am deeply humbled by the honor of being able to tell this story. An important theme of the book will be about my Dad’s valiant and tireless fight on behalf of the poor and powerless in the United States and across the globe. Indeed, I am proud of my colleagues in Save the Children’s U.S. Programs for not only their hard work every day, but for inspiring me and allowing me to continue my Dad’s work in a meaningful and profound way. “A Good Man” will be published in the spring of 2012 and, while I’ll be grinding away at the keyboard into the nights, I won’t be going anywhere. I am proud to continue the fight against childhood poverty in the United States with all of my Save the Children colleagues, as well as so many of you who have helped us in ways large and small. Once again, thank you for your support and for allowing me to share this exciting news with you. Warmly, Mark Mark K.
