Dear Hunter, In less than a week, our oldest child, 18-year-old Molly, will vote in her first presidential election. While that contest understandably gets the most attention, there are many other critical elections at the federal, state and local levels around the country happening on November 8. As you may know, Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) endorsed Colin Van Ostern in the New Hampshire gubernatorial race (https://t.e2ma.net/click/lod2mb/h9ytd/1830ws), as well as seven other candidates from both parties in state legislative races (https://t.e2ma.net/click/lod2mb/h9ytd/h140ws) in New Hampshire, Iowa and Washington. All of these candidates support expanding access to high-quality early childhood education programs in their states. And while we did not make an endorsement in the presidential race, we are working to educate voters on which candidate will best invest in kids. During the final presidential debate last month, dozens of SCAN Student Ambassadors and advocates from across the country hosted debate watch parties (https://t.e2ma.net/click/lod2mb/h9ytd/xt50ws), where they discussed the importance of early childhood education and encouraged the moderator to ask Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump about their stances on the issue (https://t.e2ma.net/click/lod2mb/h9ytd/dm60ws). These elections matter for the future of our nation’s kids – kids like those in West Virginia who grew up with my friend Jennifer Garner. Jennifer saw some of her peers struggle because they started school behind and those childhood experiences made such a big impact on her that she has become a fierce advocate for early childhood education today. That’s why she recorded this video urging our supporters across the country to vote for kids. (https://t.e2ma.net/click/lod2mb/h9ytd/te70ws) If you agree with Jennifer and me that on November 8 we should vote for candidates who will make kids a priority, please share Jennifer’s video message today. Kids can’t vote – but you can. We need to vote like kids’ futures depend on it – because they do. Please use your voice by sharing Jennifer’s message today. And remember to vote for kids on Tuesday, November 8! Many thanks, as always, for your support.
