Good afternoon!

I just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm actually going to retire from the Army after we're done here with the Administration. Not to worry - the following invitation is just the ceremony and reception, which we'll have on November 10th - fact is, I don't really retire until July - but I wanted to do the ceremony/party while I'm still surrounded by my friends. A retirement ceremony really has little to do with the retiree - it's for their family.

I intend to be a ghost after the inauguration - I get to keep working with the VP for 30 days (officially) - then I'll just be doing administrative things, some recruiting and attending to my own medical stuff (nothing serious - just 20 years of being rode hard and put away wet, paratrooper-style). And even then - I can never imagine a day when any of you call and I don't pick up the phone with a smile....

In any case - absolutely no pressure to attend (truly), as I know how busy everyone is - but know that I'd love to have you if you do have the time. You've all been a really important part of my life for the past eight years, and I hope that will continue. If I missed anyone, it's just because I don't have a good email. My Adjutant is organizing everything, sending invites and tracking RSVPs. I will paste the invites that she sent out below - but with you all, I wanted to send the invitation personally.
