Thanks Ashley - I’ll add you to the list, so you don’t need to actually register through the website. This year will be even bigger. As of today, we have over 680 registered runners and have raised over $10,000 is crowdfunding donations. We’ll have vendors and Dogfish Head and a band. Like last year, we’ll have a 5k and a 10k. We also got these super awesome beanies for runners (thanks to Under Armour for sponsoring). Picture attached. If any of you would like to run, please let me know and I’ll register you. > <PastedGraphic-1.tiff> > 2. Beau Biden Foundation Night at the Delaware 87ers - Saturday, March 25 7 pm at the Bob Carpenter Center. This night is a big deal for us. The Sevens players will be wearing BBF branded jerseys, we’ll have our logo on the court and be creating child ID kits in the KidZone. A portion of all ticket sales will come back to the Foundation. The Sevens also made custom jerseys for the VP, Dr. B, Hallie, Natalie, Little Hunter, Ashley, Hunter and Valerie. Right now, the plan is for the VP to make remarks at half time. If you’re interested in attending the game, please let me know. We have court side seats for 6 and VIP seating for however many folks we need. This game will sell out, so it should be a great opportunity to get in front of a ton of people. > > 3. Anti-Defamation League’s Beau Biden Shield Award Ceremony - Wednesday, March 29 6 pm cocktails, 7 pm program at the Chase Center. This is not a BBF event. However, the local chapter of the ADL created an award called the Beau Biden Shield award that honors four groups of people who did great work protecting civil rights in the community. The four honorees run the gamut of law enforcement - FBI, police, prosecutors, etc. The list of winners is attached. The first group, from Philly, is being honored for a 2016 investigation and community response to alleged bias-motivated home invasions targeting the Chinese community of Philadelphia. The second group, also from Philly, is being honored for a 2012-2014 investigation and prosecution of Christian Womack and Rashidah Brice for sex trafficking children by force, fraud or coercion (I’d note that two of these folks are from the USA’s office in Philly, and B’s friend Lou Lappan nominated them). The third group, from Chester County, PA, is being honored for a 2013-2014 investigation and prosecution of the Superintendent and Athletic Director of the Coatesville Area School District for racist and sexist behavior and fraud. The final group, from Wilmington, is being honored for 2014 investigation and community response to a rash of arsons targeting churches in Delaware > > I’m working with the VP’s scheduling team to see if he’ll be able to attend, but it would be great to have as many of you in attendance as possible. There will be about 250 people in the room (though it’s not a fundraiser, the ADL is asking people to pre-register). Jim Gardner from Action News is the MC. Let me know if you can come and I’ll make arrangements for you. > <Honoree List - 2017 - Beau Biden SHIELD Award.xlsx> > > Thank you! > /ja > > Joshua Alcorn > 302/295.8340 (office) > 302/598.1885 (cell) > josh@beaubidenfoundation.org <mailto:josh@beaubidenfoundation.org
