President Trump just signed a new executive order blocking immigrants and refugees from entering our country.

I want to be very clear about this: This ban's targeting of refugees and immigrants from Muslim-majority countries is illegal, unconstitutional and deeply un-American. The very idea is shameful and hearkens back to some of our country's darkest days, like when our leaders refused entry to Jewish refugees fleeing the horrors of the Holocaust.

This ban won't make us any safer; it is a propaganda bonanza for ISIS, and its last iteration offended and alienated our closest allies in the war on terror.

Like many of you, I'm angered and saddened that we still have to fight battles for religious freedoms and immigrants' rights - but you can be sure I will stand with the families placed in harm's way, and I need you to speak out with me and Americans across the country:
