He has reached out to me. I will connect with him. I have been looking around the world for clean tech that convert waste to value ( waste to energy or waste to nutrients, or waste to valuable by products). Unfortunately, there are several regulations that have been in place for over 60 years that make it extremely difficult to get approval as the old regulations does not accommodate these new technologies. Startup companies that offer these solutions cannot afford to go through the bureaucratic nightmare and costs associated with it. Even if they could afford the costs, the timeline for approvals deter these companies to enter the US market. I strongly believe that we need to recognize that every industrial manufacturing company WILL generate waste. Unless a state has a clear strategy around managing this waste in an eco friendly sustainable, cost effective manner, you really cannot have retain the companies that are here and also attract new companies into NJ. I will be happy to share this with Hal and then if needed I will be happy to come and discuss with you how this is hindering job growth in NJ and also forcing companies who are currently in NJ to look outside NJ as a home for manufacturing. I can also give you several examples as to how pharmaceutical companies have located their manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico, Ireland, and Singapore. Interestingly the cost of manufacturing and labor costs in Singapore are not different from NJ. Look forward to hearing from you. I wanted to introduce you to Dr. Rengarajan Ramesh. Ramesh is currently working on an intriguing clean tech project in New Jersey and I thought it would be mutually beneficial for him to talk to the appropriate member of the Senator's staff. Ramesh was formerly the Chief Technology Officer for GE Water and Process Technologies and I've attached his biography here for your reference. As you will see Ramesh is one of the leading thinkers in the world today on clean tech - and NJ is lucky enough to have him as a citizen. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns and thanks in advance for your time. Best, Hunter -- R.
