When David Ott stepped down as CIO of $11.8 billion, Greenwich, Connecticut–based Viking Global Investors in April, Daniel Sundheim, 33, was one of a quartet of portfolio managers to whom Viking CEO O. Andreas Halvorsen turned to take over Ott’s investment responsibilities. But Tiger cub Halvorsen is not the only one to think Sundheim, who graduated from, yes, the Wharton School, has talent. Market participants say Sundheim’s investment skills blow them away. Viking returned 18.9 percent, net, in 2009, making it one of top performers for the year among the Tiger cubs.
