Many For One and One For Many
We’ve celebrated Valentine's Day and Black History Month, hosted
our Oscar's parties, followed the Federal Government’s battle over
our national budget and patiently await the first day of spring on
the 20th; yes, February is over. And all signs point toward March
madness; a time when we plant seeds and redouble our efforts for
harvesting in warmer times!

Here at Career Transition For Dancers, March also means aggregation;
compounding our passions, energy and resources benefiting dancers
nationwide. Like our friends, Janice Becker (Career Transition For
Dancers’ Board of Directors member and Winter Heat Chair), Scott
Case (CEO of StartUp America), Kelly DeMarco (Winter Heat Chair),
Michele Herbert (Palm Beach “Heart & Soul” Awards Luncheon
Committee member), Vicki Kellogg (Palm Beach “Heart & Soul”
Awards Luncheon Chair), Jacqueline Novogratz (founder of the Acumen
Fund), Anka Palitz (Career Transition For Dancers Board of Directors
member and Palm Beach “Heart & Soul” Awards Luncheon Chair), and
Michele Riggi (Winter Heat Chair); we are revisiting how we work
together to build and sustain more resources for programs while
deepening and adding value to our partnerships. But, we need your
help.

As we continue to innovate our resources with programs like Stepping
Into Hope and Change (April 7-NYC; May 14-LA; and Chicago in the
fall); we look to you for support. So, please enjoy our March issue
highlighting some of our efforts, events and programs coming up as we
say goodbye winter and hello spring. Then, contact us to find out

Dancers' dancer-client, Chicago

"As a member of Career Transition For Dancers, I am continually
pleasantly surprised and blown away by some of the transitions taken
by our dancer-clients. Speaking with Leonard Cruz left me no less
than amazed by his commitment to betterment and passion for health

Leonard’s Words: I’ve had an extensive dance career from dancing
with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company for five years, to
performing for Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch- Germany , then
establishing my own dance company, Leonard Cruz Tanztheater. During
this journey I knew I wanted to continue my passion for health and
complete my education. My exposure to higher education institutions
only increased my desire to return to school and obtain another
degree. I am grateful to Career Transition For Dancers in continuing
my passion and having supported my education and career as an artist,
scholar, activist and teacher. Teaching has taken me to various
higher education institutions internationally from Duke University in
2008-2009 to the Folkwang University in Essen, Germany, to M.I.T. in
2010 and currently at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I
am also pursuing a PhD in Urban Education with a focus on the
performing and creative arts. My goal at the present moment is to
find a tenure track position at an appropriate higher education
institution. I know I can leap over any obstacle; Thank you Career
Transition For Dancers for your support.
