Good news for a Friday afternoon: The Senate released its proposed FY 2011 funding bill this afternoon. While it includes $51 billion in cuts to federal spending (when compared to President Obama’s FY 2011 request), there are no cuts to the global hunger programs (funding is maintained at the FY10 levels). Following are the levels included in the Senate bill: Development Assistance - $2.5 billion McGovern-Dole - $209.5 million Title II -$1.69 million International Disaster Assistance - $879 million Child Survival and Nutrition – $2.5 billion Global Agriculture & Food Security Program (trust fund) - $200 million We still have much work before us to ensure that the final legislation includes these funding levels, but this is a great success. Have a great weekend and thanks again for your dedication and commitment to addressing global hunger. All the Best, Rick
