The topic of state fragility has been an ongoing point of discussion across numerous channels within Truman for several years. This community recognized threats emerging from fragile states as some of the most pressing challenges of our day, identifying these as some of the core elements of http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=2fd17e0db2edd6d32a61a785cbf43d38c46a20411b6016ec6f673ec28d05c571 the Truman Project Framework . As part of our effort to provide additional depth and context to the challenges and opportunities outlined in Framework, we started the Fragile States Initiative. Under the leadership of Andrew Albertson and Ashley Moran, this publication has become a vehicle for channeling the ideas from that ongoing, nationwide conversation. This publication benefited from the review and input of over 20 Truman members spanning government, academia, and civil society across five of our Chapters. This is the first in a series of 4 briefs that will explore 1. The case for prioritizing fragile states, 2. drivers of state fragility, 3. options for addressing fragility in partner states, and 4. executive and legislative actions necessary to implement the strategy. As a community, we are focused on having impact. We are excited to http://cl.s6.exct.net/?qs=2fd17e0db2edd6d3e89e3f15562a3b1c770cf62aecb6deb287f298d8d8ab2085 share this publication with you and recognize it is an important step in what we know will be an ongoing effort across Truman to address these 21st century challenges.
